Dean K. Kraus, 74, of Huron, died Wednesday June 27, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
He was born June 10, 1938, in Sandusky, and lived in the Huron and Berlin Heights areas his whole life. He was a 1956 graduate of Berlin Heights High School. After high school he worked on freighters on the Great Lakes and then went on to serve in the US Army. He went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in veterinary medicine. He owned and operated the Lake View Veterinary Hospital for 45 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of Huron Rotary and Marks Lodge F&AM in Huron, and he loved spending time at the lake.
He is survived by his children, Michelle (Jeff) Melragon, of Columbus, Michael (Jill) Kraus, of Jackson, Mich., and Sydney and Jassic Kraus, of Huron; five grandchildren; two sisters, Judy (Tom) Wholf, of Doylestown, Pa., and Gayle (Steve) Bovia, of Greenwich; and two brothers, Andrew and Bill (Kathleen) Kraus, of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Nellie (Carnegie) Kraus, and a sister-in-law Ellen Kraus.
