Harold was born Feb. 23, 1935, in Clearfield, Pa., son of the late Edward K. and Elva D. (Liddick) Maines. He moved to Sandusky at the age of 12 and then to Milan in 1951, where he had been a resident since. Harold married Betty J. Hilton, Dec. 23, 1951, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Harold was a member of Milan Baptist Church. He worked for the former Barr Rubber in Sandusky for many years and then for the former Clevite in Milan, from where he retired in 1997 after 29 years. After his retirement he and Betty enjoyed spending the winter at their home in Arcadia, Fla., where they made many close friends.

In his early years he was involved with CB radios. Harold enjoyed many years of traveling with his wife, Betty, on his Honda Goldwing and in his 1992 Chevy Convertible. He loved watching his grandchildren's sporting events and enjoyed playing with his great-grandchildren. He spent most of his summer days working with his son.

Harold was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and Jeff Gordon fan. His favorite pastimes were camping throughout the country, playing cards with his close friends and eating out. He loved his ribs! Harold enjoyed riding his scooter up to Invention Restaurant for his daily cup of coffee and chat with the guys.

Harold will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty; children, Darrell E. (Caron) Maines and Trudy L. (Kevin) Riddle, both of Milan; grandchildren, Monica Todd, Morgan Roark, PFC Tyler Riddle USMC and Tori Riddle; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Haylee Roark and Aylah Todd; sisters, Twila (Bob) Jackson of Seabrook Island, S.C. and Bertha (Don) Schenk of Sun City Center, Fla.; stepbrother, Jack Maines, Woodland, Pa.; sisters-in-law, June McInturff and Opal Leedy of Unicoi, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends he met throughout the years.
