Edward C. Kaczor, 90, of Milan, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 20, 1918, in Detroit, and lived in Milan most of his life. He was a 1937 graduate of Milan High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor; he received four Bronze Stars. He retired from New Departure in 1980, after 32 years, and held positions with their union. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He loved to golf, bowl, garden and gamble until the very end. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Norwalk VFW, Elks, Eagles, and Milan American Legion. He also helped found Cub Scout Pack 215 in Milan.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois (Stower); son, Edward S. Kaczor of Milan; seven daughters, Mary McPherson of Milan, Helen (Steve) Ewell of South Amherst, Ohio, Kathleen (Doug) Laux of Lima, Ohio, Jane (David) Chandler of New London, Margaret (David) Wollenhaupt of Arvada, Colo., Patricia (Gene) Rowland of Norwalk and Veronica (Charles "Corky") Field of Berlin Heights; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sophia Hildabrand of New Providence, N.J.; sister-in-law, Viola Kaczor, of Seattle; brother-in-law, Paul Rohsner of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mary (Czarna) Kaczor; sisters, Caroline, Marian, Helen and Genevieve; and brothers, Stanley "Ralph", Frank and George.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Milan. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery in Milan.
