Lawrence P. Knox, 64, of Sandusky, passed away Saturday evening, June 7, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Lawrence was born in Cleveland, May 14, 1944, to Leonard and Tessie (Garrett) Knox.
Lawrence enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964 and served in Okinawa, Japan, during the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he became a general laborer.
Lawrence, "Butchie" and "Larry", was a resident of the Ohio Veteran's Home since 1998, where the staff became his second family and did a wonderful job providing compassionate care for him in these last years.
Lawrence is survived by his twin brother, Leonard Knox of Cleveland; several children; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Military services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Ohio Veterans Home, Giffin Chapel, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Paul Birmingham will officiate.
