Providence M. "Babe" (Demma) Krueger, 89, of Sandusky, passed away late Sunday morning, June 8, 2008, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Sandusky, to Saverio and Lena (LaMantia) Demma and was married for 45 years to Elton H. Krueger, who died Oct. 12, 1988. She was the owner/operator of Demma's Caf, later known as Demma's Restaurant, with her husband and her mother, dating back to 1931. She retired in 1995, after more than 60 years of serving "the best veal and spaghetti in town" to the best customers in town. The restaurant was her life, as was her recipe, it was where you learned to eat with others.
She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the IAB Club's Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking for, caring for and talking with her friends, neighbors and extended family. Her warm smile and laugh will be truly missed.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Robert (Kathy) Krueger of Manchester, Ohio, and Ken Krueger of Phoenix; grandchildren, Tammi (Joe) Mains of Medina, Ohio, and Wendi (Dan) Williams of Cincinnati; six great-grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Michael, Dalton, Mason and Daniel; nieces, Sandra (Ken) Johnson and Annette Demma; nephews, Gasper (Ann) Lococo of Hudson, Ohio, and Pete (Gail) Lococo and Chuck (Judy) Lococo of Sandusky; and special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kay and Faber McKenna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton; parents; sisters, Margaret Talbot and Frances Canino; brother, Phil Demma; and half brother, August "Gus" Lococo.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky.
