William W. Payne, 60, of Clyde, died unexpectedly, Saturday, June 7, 2008, in The Bellevue Hospital.
Bill was born June 25, 1947, in Sandusky, to G. Weston and Lucille H. (Kleinoeder) Payne. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1965 and was a dairy farmer his entire life. He was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; a member of the Lavender and Old Boots Farm Council; a 50-year member of the National Holstein Association; a 50-year member of the Ohio Holstein Association; and the Sandusky County Dairy Service Unit. He had been the State FFA Degree Recipient and an Honorary Chapter Farmer winner.
On March 26, 1983, Bill married the former Melinda Figgins, she survives as do their children, Lesley (Jason) Maxey of Urbandale, Iowa, and Joe W. Payne of Clyde; his mother, Lucille Payne of Clyde; siblings, Martha Lucille (Robert) Lantz of Fremont, John Edward (Linda Fox) Payne of Fremont and Mark Henry (Gail) Payne of Clyde; Melinda's parents, Ralph and Jan Figgins of Fayette, Ohio; her brother, Timothy (Carol) Figgins of Fayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Wes Payne in 1987.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Clyde. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
