Vesta E. Ross, formerly of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008, in Van Crest Nursing Home, Delphos, Ohio, where she had resided for the past seven years.
Mrs. Ross was born Vesta Elaine Hart in Union Corners, Ohio, to Lloyd and Laura (Scherer) Hart, Aug. 2, 1913. She attended a one-room school through the eighth grade and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1932. She married Harold Ross at St. John Lutheran Church, Union Corners, on Feb. 8, 1942. They moved to Upper Sandusky in 1957 where they owned and operated Armstrong Clothing until 1985.
Mrs. Ross was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky.
Mrs. Ross is survived by two daughters, Diane Eyestone, Columbus, Ohio, and Linda (Mark) Downey, Delphos; three granddaughters, Jenifer (Christopher) Roddy, Mount Vernon, Ohio, Laurel (Jason) Hobbins, Columbus and Margot (Rocky) Tyler, Wellston, Ohio. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Harold; daughter, Judith Ann; sister, Alverna Kauer; and brother, Neill Hart.
Mrs. Ross donated her body to Ohio State University Medical College.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. June 14, 2008, in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky; the Rev. Henry Seibert officiating.
