Helen Marie Lavigne, 86, of Norwalk, died peacefully Monday, June 18, 2012, in her home.
She was born March 31, 1926, in Cleveland, daughter of the late Charles W. and Beatrice C. (Miller) Cole and was a lifelong area resident. Helen was a 1944 graduate of Milan High School and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Norwalk. She was a farm wife, and loving mother and grandmother.
Helen was a member of Firelands Post 2743 VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Aerie 711 Auxiliary, FADS Square Dancing Club, and the Lazy Aces Saddle Club. She enjoyed playing Bingo, square dancing, camping, computer games and raising vegetables for sale at the family vegetable stand, Roger’s Market.
Helen is survived by her son Roger “Ed” Lavigne, of Norwalk; her daughters, Sandie Adkins, of Sandusky, and Janet S. Lavigne, of Norwalk; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson, soon to be born. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles James “Jim” and Diana “Sue” Cole of, Norwalk; and her brother-in-law Louis Claeys, of Marshall, Mich.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Roger W. Lavigne in 2009 and by her sister Carol Claeys in 2011.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22. The Rev. Rodney Hollen, Pastor of Milan Baptist Church, will officiate. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
