M. Imogene "Gene" Findley, 99, of Sandusky and formerly Fremont, passed away early Tuesday evening, May 27, 2008, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born in Lindsey, Ohio, c, and was a 1926 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She was a homemaker, but in the early 1940s she worked at Herbrand Tool Company, Fremont, in bookkeeping and then at Jenkins Manufacturing Company in Eustis, Fla. until 1958. After retiring in 1969 from Heintz Sheet Metal Works in Fremont, she moved to the Sandusky area. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Eastern Star, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her son, Larry K. Findley; three granddaughters, Natalie (Joseph) Anthony of Chicago, Laura (Chris) Kaneski of Medina, Ohio, and Kellie (Frank) Fowler of Oak Harbor; great-grandson, Seth O'Neil; brother, Donald Wingard of Baton Rouge, La.; sister, Geraldine Jones of Newark, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorwin H. Findley in 1968; parents, Cyrus and Rozella (Boyer) Wingard; and three brothers, Lloyd, Howard and Robert Wingard.
At the request of the family, visitation and funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sandusky. Arrangements entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral Home, Sandusky.
