NORTH FORT MYERS, FLA.
Reid Randolph Schaefer, 52, of North Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Sandusky, passed on to Heaven, Sunday, May 25, 2008, after a lengthy five-year battle with melanoma cancer.
Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the NSA Division stationed in Korea. He was a member of the Army Reserve for many years and is a life member of VFW Post 2529, Sandusky.
He was a 1983 graduate of The Ohio State University and worked in the computer software industry until his illness.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cindy Lou Schaefer and Christine Marie Schaefer Vodicka.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gina Schaefer; two daughters, Patricia (Tim) Melton of Auburn Hills, Mich., and Crystal Schaefer of Miami; a son, John R. (Jasmine) Schaefer of Fort Myers, Fla.; grandson, Miles Jackson Melton; his parents, Dr. John K. DDS and Esther Schaefer of Sandusky; five brothers, John G. (Debby) Schaefer of Fort Myers, Joe Schaefer of Toledo, Dr. Peter (Christine) Schaefer DDS of Milan, Paul (Charmaine) Schaefer of Mount Gilead, Ohio, and Tom (LaDonna) Schaefer of Huron; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Fort Myers. He will be laid to rest in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens on Colonial Blvd.
