Evalyn L. (Cronenwett) Gundlach, 88, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, May 27, 2008, in Portland House.
Evalyn was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Sandusky, the daughter of Carl E. and Louise (Lublow) Cronenwett. She was a 1937 graduate of Sandusky High School and worked for30 years as a seamstress at the former Sandusky Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sandusky. She was also a member of the first Red Cross volunteer class, and was a member for over 50 years of the original Sandusky Memorial Hospital (now Firelands Regional Medical Center) Auxiliary.
Her daughter-in-law, Cleona (Jean) Gundlach of Castalia; grandchildren, Debbie (Doug) Fannin, Terry (Diane) Gundlach, Jennifer Downing and Francis (Brooke) Gundlach; and seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy Fannin, Matthew, Tyler and Rachel Gundlach, Heather and Brandon Downing, and Ashley Gundlach, survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley F. Gundlach, Oct. 29, 2001; sons, Lynn A. Gundlach, March 27, 2008, and Larry Gundlach, January, 1958; parents; sister, Ethel Isaac, 1963; and brother, Alfred Cronenwett,1987.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. Friday until services at 11 a.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Gary Ulrich will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
