Hurless W. "Bud" Barnum Jr., 93, of Sandusky, died Monday, May 19, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Sandusky. He was employed by Pennsylvania and N & W railroads for more than 35 years as a conductor, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sandusky, and loved fishing.
He is survived by his sons, Lester J. "Butch" (Denise) Barnum of Castalia, Robert J. (Yoshiko) Barnum of Irvine, Calif.; grandchildren, Beverly Barnum, Stephanie Barnum, Anne (Rob) Barnum Sarrica, Dustin Windisch and Dana (Zach) Belak; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alexis and Alania Sarrica and Elizabeth Belak; sister, Sallie Bagleyof Sandusky; brothers, Howard Barnum and Lyle Barnum, both of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Estella M. Barnum, who died Feb. 16, 2008; his parents, Hurless W. Barnum, Sr. and Marietta (McCartney) Barnum; and sisters and brothers, Ethel, Gertrude, Woodrow, Mary Jane, Clarabelle, Francis, Olive Mae, Marietta and Clarence.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Gary Ulrich officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
