Buford N. Blevins, 81, of Sandusky, died early Sunday morning, May 11, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Sharpsburg, Ky., and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Buford was employed at the former Lyman Boat Works, drove truck for Sea Raider Boats, and retired in 2005 from private trucking. He was a member of the Commodore Denig Post 83, American Legion and the local UAW.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Helen L. Eldridge; one son, Wendell (Cecilia) Blevins of Bellevue; one daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Neuman of Sandusky; one granddaughter, Marina Neuman; one brother, Cliff Blevins of Pine Grove, Pa.; four sisters, Mary Hutchison of Paris, Ky., Betty Alexander of Stone Mountain, Ga., Patsy Alexander of Flemingsburg, Ky., and Linda Thomas of Winchester, Ky.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Peachie (Nealous) Blevins, and four brothers, Stanley, John, Curtis and Walter Jr.

Visitation was Wednesday at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., where funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today. The Rev. James Gregory will officiate.
