Billy Joe Allman, 68, of Berlin Heights, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 10, 2008, in his home.
He was born Aug. 20, 1939, in Clifton Forge, Va. He retired from Ford Motor Company, and also was employed by Firelands Hospital and Jefferson Place, in Sweet Springs, W.V., as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselor.
He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and founded, with a few friends, the Easy Does It meeting in downtown Sandusky. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved spending time with his grandsons, Cody and Logan.
His son, Cory (Lorie) Allman, Vermilion; grandsons, Cody and Logan; mother, Edith (Holiday) Truman, Sandusky; companion, Maryann Taylor; sister, Lorena Lawrence, Sandusky; and brother, Timothy Truman, Sandusky, survive him.
His father, Cecil Allman, who died in 1991; and former wife, Jane Allman, who died in 2002, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from noon, Wednesday, until funeral service at 1 p.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
