Bertha Rose Koch, 87, of Castalia, died on her birthday, Wednesday morning, May 7, 2008, at her residence.
She was born May 7, 1921, in Castalia, and was a retired cook for Margaretta Schools for several years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Castalia; the ladies auxiliary of VFW, Post 2529; the XYZ Club; and the Senior Women's Club.
Bertha is survived by one daughter, Clarice (Steven) Gowitzka of Castalia; two sons, Gary C. Koch of Palm Springs, Calif., and Dean (Robin) Koch of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Scott, Dawn, Kelly, Heather, Kristin, Greg and Drew; six great-grandchildren, Carter, Kaden, Riley, Alexandra, Mackenzie and Camryn; three sisters, May Kehres of Castalia, Ruth Speer of Sandusky, and Joyce Cramer of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her granddaughter, Kimberly Koch; her parents, Frank and Mina (Hall) Wobser; five brothers, Andrew, Ernie, Roy, Albert and Elmer Wobser; and four sisters, Hazel Welser, Mabel Ruthsatz, Betty Ries, and Anna Marie Wobser in infancy.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until services at 10:30 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. The Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
