F. Marion Howell, of Vermilion, and formerly of Pomona, Calif., and recently residing in Sandusky, died early Saturday morning, April 26, 2008, in the In-Patient Stein Hospice Care Center at Firelands Hospital South Campus.
Marion was born June 18, 1921, in Devol, Okla., and was raised in Arkansas. She then moved with her husband of 66 years, James J. Howell, to California in 1940 where they raised their three children. Marion and James moved to Ohio in 2005 to be near family members.
Marion enjoyed volunteering, gardening, travel, reading, political discourse and the sound of children's laughter.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2005; her mother and father, James and Martha Lookadoo; and her sister and brother, Estelle Butler and McGlynn Lookadoo.
Marion also will be dearly missed by her surviving family members: Daughter, Sue (Hal) Woods of Elgin, Iowa; sons, Jim (Pat) Howell of Tracy, Calif.,, and Bob (Donna Furrer) Howell of Huron; grandchildren, Mitzi, Tiffany, Mike, Bill, Zach and Dylan; and six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Marion also left behind a whole new family of friends: The Basilone family, Parkvue friends and staff and the Inn at Chappel Creek friends and staff, whose combined caring and compassion made all the difference.
Private family services were at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
