Ruth E. (Scott) Kollman , 86, of Sandusky went to be with her Lord Thursday, April 24, 2008, while in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Lorain, moved to Sandusky at an early age and attended Sandusky High School. Ruth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky. She was a life member of AMVETS Post 17 Auxiliary where she was president, second vice president, and sergeant-at-arms. She was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2529 Sandusky, a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 83 and the Humane Society of Erie County. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and golf, and was a past president of the Tuesday Ladies Golf League at Mills Creek.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Alvin) Ostheimer; grandsons, David (Sandye) and Michael (Billie Jo) Ostheimer; granddaughter, Deborah (Timothy) Mitchel; great-grand daughters, Amanda and Ashley Ostheimer and Karen Mitchel; great-grandsons, Kyle Mitchel and Zane Ostheimer; sister, Maxine (Scott) Schwochow; a special honorary great-grandson, Chris Bohn; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James W. Kollman; parents, Andrew and Alma (Quiren) Scott; sisters, Alice (Paul) Riesterer, Evelyn Jean (Clifford) Raab; and brother, William (Ann) Scott.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where a memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by AMVETS Auxiliary Post 17. Friends may also call from 9 a.m. Saturday until funeral services at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
The Rev Cathy Schibler will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Green Memorial Park, Huron.
