Phyllis Jane Hinman, 84, of Norwalk, died Sunday morning, April 17, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky. She was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Earnest and Edith (Joy) Holiday. She was a 1942 graduate of Berlin Heights High School and was a member of the Berlin Echos. She was employed at Marting's Department Store in Portsmouth, Ohio, for 32 years as a personal shopper and also worked in the advertising department. She was a past president of the Portsmouth Business and Professional Women's Club. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics and cross stitching.
She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Thomas Hinman of Norwalk; her stepdaughter, Pamela Hinman of Norwalk; and her nieces, Beverly (Alton) Reisinger of Elyria and Cheryl "Chick" (Ron) Engelhardt of Wakeman.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, and from 11 a.m. Thursday until funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South St., Berlin Heights. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Heights.
