Juanita C. "Nita" Ruemmele, 82, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, April 19, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after an extended illness.
She was born in Sandusky, Sept. 20, 1925, and was a 1943 graduate of Sandusky High School. She was a homemaker and had a life-long love for music, being trained in piano and accordion. In her younger years, she was in a band with her brothers called the "Opfer Trio." Nita was a lover of all things beautiful and was a talented gardener, artist and cook. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, whom she married June 19, 1948, Dean A. Ruemmele; three daughters, Debra Ruemmele of Toledo, and Pamela (Brian) Irey and Patricia Ruemmele, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Daniel (Linda) Ruemmele of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Bernard Ruemmele of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Brian and Damon Ruemmele, Ebony Hardy, and Allison, Sarah and Anne Gerren; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Mason and Katelyn Ruemmele; brother, John (Elaine) Opfer Jr., of Harbor Springs, Mich.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Arvilla E. (Faber) Opfer Sr.; and two brothers, Walter and Robert Opfer.
Her family will receive friends 10 a.m., Wednesday in The Commons at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in church; the Rev. Philip Feltman will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Arrangements entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral Home, Sandusky.
