Robert Nelson Barr, 86, of Vickery, died on Monday, May 28, 2012, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky.
Mr. Barr was born July 18, 1925, in Riley Township to the now deceased John Chester and Alice (Lidke) Barr. He graduated from Townsend High School in 1943.
Bob was a member of Vickery United Methodist Church and for years enjoyed playing softball and basketball in Clyde and Fremont.
He retired in 1990 from Ohio Agriculture Research and Developmental Center as an instructor and was a life-long farmer.
On June 15, 1947, he marred Aline Meggitt and she survives, as do their daughters, Beverly (Terry) Hughes, of Fort Pierre, S.D., and Martha (James) Pitcher, of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Shane (Amanda) Hughes, MacCartney Hughes, Jason (Dana) Pitcher and Megan (Todd) Peugeot; and eight great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Frances Stout, of Vickery, and Opal Britenburg, of Fremont; and nieces and nephews, also survive.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. A private funeral will take place.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
