Mary L. (Cammalleri) Mathers, 86, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday evening, April 13, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Mathers was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Sandusky. She attended Holy Angels and graduated from Sandusky High School. She worked at Ford for 18 years and retired in 1981.

Mrs. Mathers was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Italian-American Beneficial Club Auxiliary; UAW Local 1216 Ford Retirees Club; Department 23-LaSociete de Femmes/Cabane Local 50; Club Amerital Auxiliary in Bellevue; Sandusky American Legion Auxiliary 83; Sandusky Eagles Auxiliary 444, VFW Post 2529 Color Guard Unit; AMVETS Post 17; and 40/8 Voyageur Militaire 50. She was a Sunshine Lady, a Woman of Excellence in 2000, and a volunteer at Ohio Veterans Home.

She is survived by her sons, Eugene (Bonnie) Kubitz of Sandusky, Richard (Carole) Kubitz of Sandusky, Leonard (Bev) Kubitz of Bellevue and James (Tina) Kubitz of Vickery; stepson, Gregory M. Mathers of Norwalk; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Angeline Beaver of Castalia; one brother, Thomas Cammalleri of Sandusky; and special friend, Richard Hana.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Mathers; son, Thomas Kubitz; her parents, Joseph Cammalleri and Concettina (Damanti) Incorvia; stepfather, Paul Incorvia; stepson, James Mathers, stepdaughter, Deborah Mathers; one granddaughter, Jennifer Kubitz; brother, Angelo Cammalleri; and one sister, Josphine Orman.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary conducting memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Funeral Home followed by a 10 a.m. mass at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.

The Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate.

Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park Huron.
