Audrey M. Ashley, 85, of Port Clinton, died Monday afternoon, April 14, 2008, in Gaymont Nursing Center.
She was born May 17, 1922, in Toledo, the daughter of the late Roy and Ida C. (Klitzke) Zinser and came to this area 35 years ago from Denver.
She was a graduate of the Columbus School of Art and Pratt University in New York City.
She was a self employed artist, especially enjoying oils and watercolors. She was a former employee of the Denver Post Commercial Art Department and the Toledo Blade Commercial Art Department. She published and illustrated several children's books and was a co-founder of the former Catawba Art Gallery. She was a member of the Artist Club of Port Clinton and was active in the Arts in the Park program in Port Clinton.
She lived and breathed her art having recently taken art classes at Terra Technical Institute.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward J. Ashley of Port Clinton; her sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and George Stephens of Norwalk; a niece; two nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk.
Interment will be in Ottawa Hills Cemetery, Toledo.
