Lawrence Brown Huston Sr., 84, of Oberlin, Ohio, died suddenly, Sunday, April 6, 2008, in Allen Medical Center, Oberlin.
He was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Oberlin, where he was a life-long resident. He was a supervisor for Harshaw Chemical in Elyria for 33 years and retired in 1986. He worked for a year a Lorain Steel Mill. He was a member of Rust United Methodist Church, Methodist Men and served on the Pastor Parish Committee, Trustee Board, Usher Board and sang in the choir. Lawrence was also a Mason and a member of Linksters Golf. He was the Col. Sanders for the annual smorgasbord meals at Rust Church. He delivered Meals on Wheels with his wife Louisa. He enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, bike riding, walking and gardening.
He is survived by sons, Logan S. Huston of Lorain and Lawrence B. Huston Jr. of Salinas, Calif.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen Huston of Oberlin; an sisters, Minnie Isom of Oberlin and LaVerne Bailey of LaPlato, Md.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louisa S. Huston; his father, Theodore Huston Sr.; mother, Mayme Lum Houston; brothers, Harold, Richard, Elwood and Theodore Jr. Huston; and sisters, Viola Mason and Marguerite King.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday in Cowling Funeral Home, Oberlin. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rust United Methodist Church, Oberlin. Pastor Lorenzo Smart of Rust UMC will officiate. Interment will be in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
