Ashley M. "Manuel" Goins, 71, of Huron, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 2, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 23, 1937, in Lawton, W. Va. He retired in 1999 from Industrial Nut Corp. where he worked for 26 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, attended The Chapel and was an officer with the Sons of AMVETS for the past few years as chaplain.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, married March 29, 1958, Shirley A. (Neely) Goins; two sons, Larry (Sally) Goins of Celina, Ohio, David (Teresa) Goins of Marysville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Matthew, Stacey, Kyle, and Regan; and three sisters, Barbara (Oxford) Busby of Chicago, Ila Pugh of Bellevue, and Bertha Rice of Danese, W.V.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beecher and Eva (Sawyers) Goins; two sisters, Virginia Goins and Eva Pugh; and four brothers, Bernard, William, Owen and Eldridge Goins.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Additional visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral services at 10 a.m., Saturday, in The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Road, Sandusky; the Rev. David L. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron.
