Libby K. (Kirk) Karim, 71, of Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning at Providence Care Center.
She was born March 18, 1937, in Lakewood, Ohio. She was a 1955 graduate of Fairview Park High School and graduated from Kent State University in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
She was employed in the hotel industry for more than 20 years as a director of sales. She was formerly the general manager of the GreenTree Inn. She was the first director of the Erie County Visitor's Bureau, co-owner and operator of Left Bank Gift Shop, and was employed at Cabinet Makers as the office manager since 1995.
She was a member of the Old House Guild and I.A.B. Club. Libby received the honor of Chamber of Commerce "Woman of the Year" in 1984. She was in the Women's Who's Who of America 1969.
Libby will always be remembered as an exceptionally loving mother, wife, and friend. Her selflessness and undying devotion to her family will be deeply missed.
Libby is survived by her three daughters, Leslie (Ron) Cantelli of Sandusky, Dawn (David) Saddler of Elyria, and Laura (Robert) Hofer of Valley City; three sons, Dane (Bobbi) Ornlef of Sandusky, Eric (Karen) Karim of Sandusky, and Gordon (Archana) Karim of Chicago; beloved grandchildren, Quintin, Kennedy, Dane Jr., Patrick, Shannon, Michael, Sydney, Rohan and Brandon; and great-grandchild, Madison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Karim in 1990; her parents, James and Gertrude (Griffiths) Kirk; and sister, Eleanore Campbell.
A gathering of family and friends will be from noon Sunday until services at 1:30 p.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate.
