Elaine "Ellie" Cunningham, 76, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center's Main Campus in Sandusky.
She was born January 17, 1932, in Waukegan, Ill., and was a 1949 graduate of Waukegan Township High School. She volunteered many years at Norwalk Memorial Home and served as a nurse's aide for more than 20 years at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. She enjoyed scrapbooking, rubber-stamping and traveling as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was involved with the Senior Enrichment Services Age Exchange program for six years. She was a member of Queen Esther Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard D. Cunningham of Norwalk; sons, Richard Scott (Laurie) Cunningham of Indianapolis, Thomas Donald (Megan) Cunningham of Pittsburgh, and David Hale Cunningham of Cleveland; nine grandchildren; sister, Susan (Robert) Madden of Bronxville, N.Y.; and her cousin, Carol Tasker of Waukegan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A. Cecil and Alma (Isatalo) Hale; and brother, Jerry Hale.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, where Queen Esther Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star service will be observed at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home; The Rev. Doug Winner, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
