Marjorie Jane (Smith) Kautz, 88, residing with her daughter in Perrysburg, Ohio, and formerly of Rockwell Street, Sandusky, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 30, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Sandusky. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Sandusky High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, bowling, gardening, pinochle, and spending time with her children.
Mrs. Kautz is survived by three daughters, Darlene (Wayne) Kirtley of Sandusky, Patricia Kautz of Perrysburg and Margaret (Tom) Armstrong of Perrysburg; a son, John (Cheryl) Kautz of Sandusky; two sisters, Jean Carsaro of New York and Joan Wallace of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Donald R. Kautz Sr. in 1993; a son, Donald R. Kautz Jr. in 1990; her parents, John and Margaret (Erckman) Smith; a sister, Marilyn Eliyas; and a granddaughter and great-granddaughter in infancy.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday followed by a funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
