Edna Gardner, 78, of Fremont, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, in Countryside Continuing Care Center.
She was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Fremont, the daughter of the late Merle and Lizzie Alva (Taylor) Jacops. She graduated in 1947 from Jackson High School, one of 18 seniors that year. Mrs. Gardner was a member of Grace Community Church, Fremont, having been a charter member of its forerunner church, Grace Brethren Church, and was a member of the former Kingsway Grange. She worked at the Four Mile Truck Stop and for 10 years as the assistant for the Sandusky County 4-H.
Survivors include her husband, LaMar C. Gardner, whom she married Sept. 12, 1947; a daughter, Janet (George) Broske of Newark, Del., and two sons, LaMar Grant (Dar) Gardner of Big Rapids, Mich., and Charlie (Ramona) Gardner of Fremont; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her siblings, Melvin Jacops, June Russell and Loren Jacops.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Community Church with the Rev. Ward Tressler officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
