Samuel "Sam" Haskel Markman, 60, of Vermilion, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, following an automobile accident.
He was born Oct. 3, 1947, in New York, and was a Vermilion resident most of his life. He also lived in Oberlin and Summerville, S.C. He attended Vermilion High School, and graduated from Lorain Community College with a degree in computer aided design.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In 1991, he established andoperated Markman CAD, a drafting and engineering print company.He previously worked for RE Warner and Associates, Westlake, Ohio.
Sam accepted Christ in 1979, at First Baptist Church in Vermilion, and re-committed his life to Christ in 2003, at Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, Amherst, Ohio, where he was a member.
He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1991, andAmerican Legion Post 397, Vermilion. He enjoyed boating,fishing, golfing, riding motorcycles, traveling and spending time with his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Smarr) Markman of Wakeman; son, John (Sarah) Markman of Springfield; daughter, Jane Frisch of Sandusky; granddaughters Gabrielle, Natalie, Hannah and Esther; stepsons, Ryan Parker of Parma Heights, Ohio, and Skyler Parker of Elyria, Ohio; mother, Verna Micheller (Walters); brother, Kevin McMullen of Vermilion; sister, Candy (Roger) Kuebel of Wanham, Mass.; andseveral nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his father, Harold Markman, in 2006.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday in Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 3 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home; the Rev. Bill Mouer, pastor of Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, Amherst, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
