Richard W. Moore III, 54, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning,March 25, 2008.
He was born April 8, 1953, in Meridian, Miss., son of the late Sarah Brady and Richard Harris Moore Sr. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Special Forces, in the Vietnam War. Richard was well known as the "Dare Devil".
He loved dancing and his music, weightlifting, taking long trips and was an animal lover. He was full of life, fun, and loved sneaking up on people.
He was employed by Bucket of Blood as a bartender for a number of years, Farrell Cheek for 10 years, I.C.P. for two years and I.A.C. for eight years.
Survivors include his lifelong mate, Lillie Nickelson; daughters, Keshia James and her husband of North Carolina, Kiria Irby of Battle Creek, Mich., Kaymeeca Nickelson of Columbus, and Shakalo Dorsey of Sandusky; sons, Richard W. Moore Jr. of New Hampshire, and Mazi Nickelson, serving in the U.S. Navy in Iraq; sisters, Dorothy (John) Parker of Gulf Port, Miss., Eunice (James) Dillard and Wanda Moore, all of Meridian, Leona (Anthony) Moore of Jackson, Miss., and Mary Elizabeth (Edward) Campbell of El Paso, Texas; brothers, Richard (Jacquelyn) Moore Jr., of Meridian, Joe Lee Moore of Colorado, Jacob (Kasandra) Moore of Tennessee, Michael Fox of Springfield, Mo., James (Tonya) Fox of Sandusky, Aaron (Lorraine) Fox of Houston, Calvin Burge of Collinsburg, Miss.; aunts, Eula Mae Williams of Meridian, Helen Gowdy and Cherry Nicholson of Sandusky, and Fannie Pearl Ford of Meridian; uncles, William Henry Moore and Harvey (Betty Jean) Nicholson of Sandusky, and Eugene Nicholson of New Orleans; seven granddaughters, eight grandboys; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special Amen to those that raised Richard, Henry Gene and Betty Moore of Sandusky.
His three sons, Anthony and Harris Moore and Damon Thompson; parents; and aunts, Mary B. Moore, Laura Burton and Callie McNeal preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Assembly of Jesus Christ, 3510 Beatty Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Johnnie Cross will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
