Theresa M. "Sis" (Hartley) Pankow, 87, of Milan, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, in Lutheran Memorial Home following a lengthy illness.
Sis was born May 15, 1920, in Huron, the daughter of William and Theresa (Mehling) Hartley. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting and watching the animals outside her home.
Her daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Joan) Bango of Sandusky; two sons and their wives, John and Deborah (Knoll) Pankow of Milan and Christopher and Frances Pankow of Sandusky; grandchildren, Sheila (Bango) Strohm, Tamie (Bango) Kopp, Ron Bango Jr., Nikki and Shane Pankow, Sara (Pankow) Kennedy, Sharon and Eric Pankow, and Lili Pinheiro; and ten great-grandchildren, with one yet to be born, survive her.
Her husband, Wilson, who died in 1990; daughter, Carol Ann, who died in 1953; her parents; two sisters, Esther Hill and Harriett David; and two brothers, Albert and Frederick Hartley, preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with prayer services beginning at 7:30 p.m. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Chris Kardzis will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
