Frances I. Mitchell, 79, of Sandusky, was called home early Sunday morning to celebrate Easter with our Lord.
She was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Greenwich, Ohio, and was a 1946 graduate of Greenwich High School. She was employed as a medical assistant for various doctors in Sandusky and was the staff secretary at the former Good Samaritan Hospital for nine years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where she taught Sunday school and was a 35-year member of the Zion senior choir. She was also a member of Circle of Friends Bible Group and VFW Post 2529 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harold W. Mitchell; daughter, Carla Mitchell of Sandusky; son, James (Anne-Marie) Mitchell of Franklin, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Beth Ann (John) Brinkman of Berea, Ohio, and Jim (Angie) Mitchell of Sandusky; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Alexxa and Cash; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Zelma (Blake) Otterbacher; four brothers, Wade, Harry, Carl and Dale Otterbacher; and two sisters, Christine White and June Chandonia.
Friends may call from 5:30-8 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
