Margery J. Gottfried, 82, of Sandusky, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center of complications following surgery.
Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late George Linton and Hazel (Hempfield) Linton. She married Lowell Gottfried Sept. 20, 1947, and he survives.
She was a graduate of Bellville High School in 1943, and Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sandusky. Margery was a homemaker, and a registered nurse working at Galion Community Hospital for 32 years, mostly in the pediatric department. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, was a good euchre player and enjoyed bowling.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen Gottfried and companion, Linda Davis of Galion, Ohio, and Matthew and Mary Gottfried of Willard; daughter, Diana Gottfried of Galion; nine grandchildren, Christopher Pine, Kerry (Eoin) Ryan, Lisa (Clay) Howard, Brett (Jaime) Gottfried, Michelle Gottfried, Joshua Gottfried, Calvin Gottfried, Charity Gottfried, and Kinsley Gottfried; five stepgrandchildren, Chris (Mindy) Gies, Adam (Lorinda) Gies, Kellen (Shannon) Buss, Tyler Buss and Jacob Buss; three great-grandchildren, Dyllan Gottfried, Juno Ryan and Grady Gottfried; sister, Mary Meese of Bellville; brother and sister-in-law, Harry "Wally" and Kay Linton of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews, including Belinda Stoffer and Winnie Barnett.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Linton.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Richardson-Davis Funeral Home, 218 S. Market St., Galion, where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Philip Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
