Clara F. (Cataldo) Pleban, 75, of Elyria (formerly of Lorain and Sandusky), died Thursday, March 20, 2008, in Center Ridge Health Campus, North Ridgeville, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Lorain and lived in the Elyria area for most of her life. Mrs. Pleban was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria.
She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and baking; and was an avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Chester; daughter, Ann (Jim) Barraco of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Michael (Jayma) Pleban of San Diego, Calif., Paul (Joyce) Pleban of Elyria, Robert (Barbara) Pleban of Lorain, and James (Beth) Pleban of Wellington; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Clara Cataldo; sisters, Mary Oberle, Theresa Naples, Esther Joy, and Helen Dziekelewski; and brothers; Joseph, Anthony, Sam, Frank, James, and Dominic Cataldo.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday in Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road and Ohio 57, Elyria. Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of the Word Eucharistic funeral service at 9:30 a.m. in St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria; the Rev. Patrick Humphrey will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
