MARTIN L. TELI
SEPT. 26, 1941-MARCH 14, 2008
Martin L. Teli, beloved husband and devoted father, died Friday, March 14, 2008 in University Hospital of Cleveland after a brief illness.
Marty, 66, was born in Cleveland on Sept. 26, 1941. He came to Lorain County in 1957 and lived there for many years prior to moving to Amherst in 2005.
Marty graduated from Brookside High School as a member of the Class of 1959 and was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain. He was active in the 1990s as a coach for the Lorain American Legion Traveling Baseball League. Prior to that, he was active as a coach for Lorain Little League throughout the 1970s and 80s.
He was employed by Ford Motor Company at its Lorain Assembly Plant for 38 years before retiring in 1997 and was a member of UAW Local 425 and Local 2000. Marty most recently worked in maintenance at Thunderbird Hills Golf Course in Huron. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2875 in Huron. Marty was an avid golfer, enjoyed landscaping and was a fan of all sports.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Madeline "Maggie" (Koot); sons, Ryan Peterman of Huron and Jason Peterman of Columbus; grandchildren, Caden and Nadine Peterman; brother, Jonathan Teli of Woodstock, Ga.; sister, Karen Sabetta of Brunswick Hills, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara (Martin) Teli.
Marty devoted his life to his family and friends. In the midst of all of his activities, he was especially committed to his two beloved grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday in Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday.
