BILLY S. GIBSON

Billy S. Gibson, 78, of 2214 St. Clair St., Sandusky, died Sunday afternoon, March 16, 2008, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born April 8, 1929, in Hiawassee, Ga., and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 30th Infantry. Billy moved to Sandusky in 1950 and was employed at the former Farrell-Cheek Company for 25 years, retiring in 1981. After his retirement, he worked part time for the Firelands Investigative Agency. He was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, Sandusky, AMVETS Post 17, VFW Post 2529, American Legion Post 83, and DAV.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, LaDonna (Rumford); four daughters, Debra (Bernard) Bushardt of Findlay and Jodi Knupke, Karen Gibson and Jenny Gibson, all of Sandusky; one son, Brandon (Theresa) Gibson of Sandusky; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah (James) Williams of Florida and Norma Jean Clark of Kentucky; one brother, George Gibson of Georgia; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Elizabeth (Adams) Gibson; two sisters, Ruby Pritchard and Loraine Reyer; one brother, John H. Gibson; and one sister and four brothers in infancy.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Rob Patton will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
