Melanie Rena (Hemmer) Jensen, 34, of 5903 Ohio 113, Berlin Heights, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 14, 2008, at her home.
She was born Jan. 18, 1974, in Sandusky, the daughter of Melvin and Donna Hemmer. She was a 1992 graduate of Margaretta High School and also graduated from the EHOVE School of Nursing, earning her licensed practical nursing degree. She was employed at Ohio Veterans Home as an MDS nurse.
Melanie was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She attentively followed her daughter's activities, and also enjoyed riding motorcycles with the family. She took a special interest in baking and sewing. She was a loving mother, daughter and sister and always brought a smile to others.
In addition to her parents, Mel and Donna, of Castalia, she leaves behind three daughters, Ciara, Marissa and Victoria; her maternal grandfathers, Richard (Sandy) Ross of Sandusky and Kenneth Grooms of Portsmouth, Ohio; her sister, Jacqueline (Michael) Linden of Castalia; brother, Zachary (Shannon) Hemmer of Castalia; nieces and a nephew; as well as aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Her husband, Thomas William Jensen, also died March 14, 2008. Her maternal grandmother, Ethel Ross; and maternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Hemmer, all preceded Melanie in death.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Chris Kardzis will officiate. Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery.
