Betty Jane Knupke, 88, of Sandusky, died March 13, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 29, 1919, in New Middletown, Ohio, to James and Pearl (Heaver) Ordway. She retired from New Departure in 1980, after more than 30 years of service. Betty enjoyed crocheting, crafts and reading. She crocheted hats for local chemotherapy patients.
Betty is survived by her grandchildren, Linda (Shawn) Meyers of Sandusky, Russell J. Wade of Oregon, Ohio, Jeffery A. (Melody) Wade of Huron, Jennifer (Joseph) Caposell of Sandusky, John A. (Angela) Wade of Sandusky, Jane (Patrick) Cullen of Castalia, Michael J. (Renae) Wade of Norwalk, and Scott Wade of Sandusky; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Knupke,Dec. 25, 1996; daughter, Sally Ann Wade, Feb. 4, 1991; parents; brothers, Jack, Paul, Kenneth, and Jim Ordway; and sister, Edith Johnson.
Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home; the Rev. Liz Proudfoot, Betty's niece, will officiate. Interment will be in OaklandCemetery, Sandusky.
