Mark Owen Wilkins passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He faced the many challenges of Huntington's disease with courage and dignity, and never questioned why.
Mark graduated from Sandusky High School in 1965 and Ohio University in 1969, and returned to teach social studies for 28 years at Sandusky High. He was passionate about world history, and shared his enthusiasm with the many students whose lives he touched over the years. Mark was a varsity letterman in basketball during high school, and later served on the coaching staff for the Sandusky High School basketball program for a number of years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating, golf, running and basketball, and also traveled extensively with his family throughout the United States.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny; sons, Todd of Broadview Heights, Ohio, and Tate of Columbus; grandchildren, Alexa, Alyvia, Lila and Austen; brother, Gordon of Houston; sister, Mary Elizabeth Lundy of Lakeland, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Rollin Wilkins.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky.
