Willowdeen L. Wood, 82, of Providence Care Center, Sandusky, and formerly of Bay View, passed away Monday night in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Sandusky, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky. Willowdeen loved to crochet, sew, garden, and especially loved her roses. She was also an avid bingo player. She was one of the longest living residents of Bay View, residing there for 66 years, spending most of them with her inseparable husband of 61 years. She worked for Vogels (Decko), and retired from Periodical Publishers, as a department supervisor, in 1985.
She is survived by two sons, William (Wilma) Wood, and Gary (Chris) Wood, both of Castalia; and two grandchildren, Mark A. Wood, Sandusky, and Jillyn J. Wood, Castalia.
Willowdeen was preceded in death by her husband, William Wood Sr., March 12, 2002; parents, Calvin and Anna (Machlinski) Lambert; and two brothers, Frank and Byron Stegman.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Respects may also be made from 10 a.m. Friday untilservices at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave.,Sandusky. The Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
