William "Bill" Henkel, 66, of Huron, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at his residence under Stein Hospice Care.
He was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Cleveland and was a resident of Huron since 1993 coming from Akron. He formerly owned and operated VIB-"E" Lure Company of Huron retiring in 2006. Prior to that he co-owned H.N. & Associates of Cleveland until 1975. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron. He was a semi-pro bowler; semi-pro fisherman; and a great golfer. He was the recipient of the Master Angler Award several times. He was a member of the Rod Builders Association.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rebecca (Robertson); a son, William; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert; and mother, Lillian Vavra (Bratkovsky) and stepfather, George Vavra.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Jeffery Sikorski officiating. Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery, Huron.
