William John Beamer, 73, of Bellevue died March 2, 2008, in Sarasota Hospice House, Sarasota, Fla.
Mr. Beamer was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Flat Rock, the son of the late Leolyn John and Edith Mae (Henney) Beamer. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1952. Following graduation, he worked for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad, retiring after 43 years, in October 1994.
Bill was a member of Seybert United Methodist Church, Bellevue; the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen; and the championship slow-pitch softball team, sponsored by Mira’s. Bill was an avid track supporter, and enjoyed fishing and shuffle boarding.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Kern) Beamer, whom he married Oct. 5, 1952; their children, Gregory A. (Karen) Beamer of St. Augustine, Fla., Shawn M. (Cathy) Beamer of Bellevue, Jannine K. (Mark) Rowland of Bellevue and Casey W. (Traci) Beamer of Norwalk; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Seybert United Methodist Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Bruce Kent officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Seybert United Methodist Church or the Bellevue Athletic Track Association.
