Lee Felton Hunter, 52, residing in Mississippi, and formerly of Sandusky, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 1, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 25, 1956, in Meridian, Miss., to Champion and Delories Hunter.
Lee was raised in Sandusky and attended Sandusky High School. He traveled the road less traveled, and being the exceptional father that he was, his greatest accomplishment was raising his children, Tyrias, Jaleah, and Jessi. Loving his children was his life's passion. He was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a young child.
He was a self-employed contractor, worked for the railroad, and spent time boxing. He loved to cook out with the family.
Lee leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Delories (Sloan) Hunter; stepfather, Hulon McAfee Sr.; brothers, Champion Hunter Jr., Freeman (Alicia) Hunter, Jonathan (Antoinette) Hunter, Robert (Cassandra) Hunter, and Dewayne (Misty) Grant; sisters, Dorothy (Elder Ernest) Robinson, Stella Hunter, and Darlene Hunter. He also leaves brothers and sisters, Hulon (Rita) McAfee Jr., Gerald McAfee, Frederick (Tammy) McAfee, Johnny Pettis, Brenda (Gary) Herman, Linda Franklin, and Louise Moore; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will deeply miss his wonderful smile and all the corny names he used to refer to them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Champion Hunter Sr.; maternal grandparents, Freeman and Hester (Mosley) Sloan; paternal grandparents, Hester and Ida (Huston) Hunter; nephew, Robert D'Marcus Stieber; niece, Lakendra Jaquel Hunter; aunts and uncles; and special friend, Calvin Alexander.
Friends may call from 11 a.m., Tuesday, until funeral service at 1 p.m. in New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Shelby St., Sandusky. Entombment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
