Vernard A. Knoll, 78, Sandusky, died early Tuesday morning, March 4, 2008, in Firelands RegionalMedical Center, Sandusky,following a brief illness.
He was born June 30, 1929, in Sandusky, and was a 1947 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was employed as an assembler at the Ford Motor Company for 26 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Faith Memorial Church, Sandusky, and U.A.W. Local 1216.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth A. (Lorenzen); three sons, Tom (Janet) Knoll of Sandusky, Michael (Susan) Knoll of Huron, and James (Kathleen) Knoll of Sandusky; one daughter, Diane Knoll of Sandusky; eight grandchildren, Christopher Knoll, David Knoll, Timothy Knoll, Rebecca Knoll, Jade Knoll, Tai Knoll, Joseph Comparette, and Kimberly “Beth” Comparette; one brother, Robert (Carol) Knoll of Sandusky; and other relatives, including Arlene Knoll and Betty Roeser.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Eugene Knoll in 1954; his mother, Dorothy (Ferris) Withem; and his father, Arthur Knoll.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday in Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from12:30 p.m., Friday, until funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in Faith Memorial Church, 1320 E. Strub Road,Sandusky; the Rev. Kenneth Hiser will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery Mausoleum.
