O. James Schwochow, 89, of Vickery, died Friday, May 4, 2012, in The Bellevue Hospital.
Jim was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Vickery, to the now deceased William and Rosa (White) Schwochow. He graduated from Townsend High School in 1941 and was a farmer all his life.
He had worked part time for the Farm Service Agency in Sandusky County.
Mr. Schwochow was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery, where he served on the church council for many years. He had also been on the building board when the church was first built. Jim was a former Townsend School Board member.
On March 16, 1944, he married the former Jane Filson, and she preceded him in death on March 22, 1973. He married Gladine (Marschke) Montgomery on Dec. 30,1977, and she survives.
Also surviving are four children, Judith (Don) McEowen, of Sandusky, John (Linda) Schwochow, of Vickery, Jerry (Judy) Schwochow, of Willard, and Joyce Himes, of Norwalk; five step children, Robert (Linda) Montgomery, of Dayton, Ohio, Jack (Martha) Montgomery, of Clyde, Janet (Steve) Hall, of Sandusky, Susan (Todd) Spence, of McConnesville, Ohio, and Tim (Deb) Montgomery, of Lebanon, Ohio. 11 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren; along with one brother Norman (Pearl) Schwochow, of Clyde also survive.
Jim was preceded in death by seven siblings, Albert Schwochow, Esther Wott, Burton Schwochow, Eric Schwochow, Roy White, William Schwochow and Nelson White; and one grandson.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery. The Rev. David Klappenbach will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
