Eugene C. Asberry, 80, of Sandusky, died early Sunday morning, March 2, 2008, in Providence Care Center.
He was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Cazy, W.Va., the son of Dewey E. and Alpha (White) Asberry. He served his country in the United States Army in Korea and received a Purple Heart. He retired in 1986 from Ford Motor Company, and was instrumental in building WGGN, a local Christian television station.He was a member of Wayside Temple in Castalia, and was also a member of the UAW Local 1216.
His sisters, Mona of Bellevue and Dora of Norwalk; his brothers, Erwin (Judith) of Bellevue, Ronnie of Sandusky and Thomas (Erma) of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews survive him.
His wife, the former Lillian Gore, who died in June, 1994; his parents; and two brothers, Jimmy and Richard, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor Rusty Yost will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
