Juan R. Reyna, 86, of Sandusky died suddenly Thursday afternoon, Feb. 28, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.
He was born June 8, 1921, in Georgetown, Texas. He retired from New Departure Hyatt in 1981, and enjoyed operating his landscaping business until 2003. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, a former member of Huron St. Peter Catholic Church, and was also a member of Norwalk Eagles and Sandusky American Legion Post 83.
He is survived by six daughters, Mary Lou (Robert) Poore of Clyde, Marcela (Earl) McGirt of Clarks Hill, Ind., Dolores (Robert) Schnell, Elena (Mark) Brown, Carmen Reyna and Theresa (Curt) Jenkins, all of Sandusky; two sons, Juan Reyna of Kansas City, Mo., and Anthony (Carlene) Reyna of Radcliff, Ky.; 22 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gracela Tolento of Fostoria, and San Juana Ambriz and Octavia Martinez, both of Houston; three brothers, Enestacio and Sisto Reyna, both of Fremont, and Jose Angel Reyna of Austin, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Juan was preceded in death by his wife, Petra (Rodriguez) Reyna on April 26, 2005; an infant son, Robert Raymond Reyna, in 1955; his parents, Domitrio and Marcela (Rodriguez) Reyna; one brother, Pedro Reyna; and one sister, Rita Valesquez.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Monday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where Rosary services will be conducted. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 1605 W. Jefferson St., Sandusky. The Rev. Chris Kardzis will officiate. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
