Eileen Mary (Michel) Barry, 62 of Seville, Ohio, passed away, surrounded by her family, early Wednesday morning, Feb. 27, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Eileen was born Nov. 6, 1945, in Sandusky and was a 1963 graduate of St. Mary High School. She was a Navy wife of 27 years and spent the majority of her life as a volunteer. She was a Girl Scout Thanks Badge recipient, PTO president for the schools for many years, and enjoyed spending time at the veteran’s home in Lodi. She loved bird watching, taking in stray animals and rescuing penguins. She will be remembered for her extensive frog collection, her humor and her love and devotion for her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael Barry, a 1961 graduate of St. Mary High School; one son, Michael S. Barry of San Diego; three daughters, Collen (Gary) Witter of Milan, Kelley Barry and her husband Alex Coppola of Richmond, Va., and Heather Barry of Berkeley, Calif.; five beautiful grandchildren who were the light of her life; two brothers, Jerry Michel of Sandusky and Kevin (Jennifer) Michel of Sandusky; special sisters-in-law, Carol Michel of Sandusky and Mary Ann Joyce of Twinsburg, Ohio; three aunts, Edna Mae Schoewe, Mary (Richard) Miller, and Alberta Riedy; and her uncle, Joseph (Carm) Michel. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large group of lifelong friends to cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Fran (Spencer) Michel; sisters-in-law, Marianne (Brady) Barry and Julie Gleeson-Barry; her niece, Barbara (Barry) Kupfer; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Philip Feltman will officiate. Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, is in charge of arrangements.
