John J. Fox, 88, of Port Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born in Cleveland, the son of Thomas B. and Agnes V. (Williamson) Fox. On Aug. 26, 1944, in Canonsburg, Pa., he married Mary Louise Gall and she preceded him in death Jan. 9, 2006. John worked in management and as an engineer for Westinghouse in Mansfield for 40 years, retiring in 1983. He served as a commander III strip officer during World War II. John also was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 30 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton. John loved spending time with his family best. In retirement, he frequently traveled around the world and throughout the United States with his wife. John enjoyed reading, watching sports and loved to do crossword puzzles. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathleen (John) Hamilton of St. Paul, Minn., Gail (Jeffrey) Fox Perl of Port Clinton and Mary (Richard) Splawinski of Dayton, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, James P. Fox, Thomas W. Fox and Infant brother, Michael.
A private memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. James Lehman in Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, Port Clinton.
