Miss Velma A. Erfurth, 100, of Sandusky, passed away after a brief illness early Tuesday evening, Feb. 26, 2008, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky, where she resided since April 2003.
Velma was born March 5, 1907, in Sandusky to Julius and Caroline (Bauer) Erfurth. She was a lifetime member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir for many years.
She is survived by her niece, Henrietta Meekins; two great-nephews, Lt. Cmdr. James (Kathy) Meekins, U.S.N., R.N., P.N.P. of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Jeff Meekins of Sandusky and Arizona; two great-great-nieces, Kara and Kelsey Meekins; two great-great-nephews, Patrick and Bradley Meekins; and cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cylesta Meekins and Lucille Watt; and a nephew, Jasper "Jack" Meekins.
At her request, family services will be private at David F. Koch Funeral Home, Sandusky. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
